fingers crossed its a simple leak!īen thanks for suggestion will take a look at expansion tank. I will get rid of the airlock tomorrow then try and inspect all the pipes and radiator for leaks. If you continue to drive, ignoring the warning light, you are submitting your engine to temperatures that could cause. As we’ve said, the coolant light is telling you that your engine’s temperature is getting too high and this requires your immediate attention. I think sometimes they just get gunked up / stuck causing the light. In regards to the sensor You can purchase a new sensor for about 17 if that is the part that is failing. My friend had a Porsche that also had a failed coolant tank. The question is where the hell is it loosing coolant? I checked the oil cap when i got back no signs of mayo so think its condensation thats normal, hopefully not a head gasket problem. First and foremost, you should stop your car as soon as it’s safe to do so. If the tank is cracked, something about the loss of pressure can trigger the light. The heater is blowing hot and cold so i guess I have an air lock now. Got on the motorway and anything above 2.5k revs causes temp to rise. seems this problem has come back, went to manchester tonight, got back in the car to come home light came on again, went and checked it could not see any coolant in there drove to the nearest garage and before I got there the temp gauge shot up, immediately pulled over before it hit red and waited for it to cool which it did very quickly, started off again kept the revs to 1.5k, got to the garage and it needed 1 litre of coolant! Slight amount of mayo under the oil cap so I cleaned that off, nothing on the dipstick thats fine.
